What is the meaning of lease? Moreover, what is the meaning of leased owner operator?

People new in the trucking industry who are about to become owner-operators often ask these two questions.

In general, leasing is the same as paying a fee to use someone else’s equipment.

For example: If you want to lease a truck, the leasing agreement can vary, starting from month by month, or even the leasing agreement can be for years.

Moreover, the development of this branch of the trucking industry is due to the fact that leasing owner-operators represent the quickest way for a company to increase fleet’s capacity.

So, if you want to become a leased owner operator then you should remember the key point that once you are leased onto a carrier, the FMCSA will consider the truck altogether with you/the leased owner operator driver as the carrier’s for compliance purposes.

Remember: Leasing owner-operators into a fleet is fairly complicated and tricky process.

Further, in this article you will have the chance to read 15 trucking expert advices that you must hear before you become leased owner operator.

I always push for you to maintain proper truck/ trailer maintenance; well truck driver health is equally (if not more) important! Just like you have to keep your truck in working order by:

  • Using the better quality fuel;
  • Maintaining the proper fluid levels and oil changes;
  • Checking to make sure your tires are good;
  • Inspecting the lights, mirrors, and everything else.

The very same way you MUST to maintain your body and mind! Keep yourself healthy! When I say that, I am not just referring to getting sick, after all no one wants the flu; I am speaking more about keeping healthy weight, getting some exercise, and eating as healthy as possible.

Even the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), recognizes the importance of truck driver’s health. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), are working hard to help improve awareness so that drivers can improve their overall health.

If you are wondering just how important good health is, the short answer is very. This isn’t just about you and your well-being; this is about the bigger picture. If you aren’t fit you can’t work, if you can’t work you can’t get paid. If you are the owner of a trucking company and you have a driver who is out for health reasons, how long will they stay on your duty roster?

25 Constant Factors Affecting The Trucking Industry

Every business has its own set of issues and concerns and as such there are several important trucking industry factors which can have a major impact on your overall operation.

These factors can be small enough to affect only your company or major enough to impact the entire trucking industry. Sometimes these can even have an indirect effect on other markets and industries that rely on the trucking industry!

But first things first, you might be wondering, “What is meant by trucking industry factors?”

That is a very valid question. Obviously, I dedicated an entire article to it. Well, trucking industry factors are just that, things that will have an effect on your business, or the industry as a whole. Now these can be either positive (good) or negative (bad). This usually depends on what aspect the ‘it’ actually influences.

The thing with the trucking industry (or the transportation industry as a whole) that makes it unique is that every other industry relies on it. This reliance is either direct or indirect but nonetheless the impact is there. Before I continue, can you name one industry that doesn’t rely on trucking? Take your time!

That’s right none. Nada. Zip. Zilch! Everything must get transported from one place to another. To include the trucks used to haul the deliveries. The auto manufacturer uses trucks to deliver the parts. Service stations use them to deliver fuel. Stores use them to get their products.

Even the military uses the trucking industry to get their equipment from one point to another. From the seed farmers use to plant their fields to the tractors and fertilizer they use, the trucking industry is/was there.
